HERITAGE WALKING TOUR

Itinerary:

  1. Museo ning Angeles
A center for the rich cultural history of Angeles City, Museo ning Angeles periodically features exhibits on the heritage, culture and tradition of Angeles City and its people.
  2. Holy Rosary Parish
Located at the intersection of Sto. Rosario and Sto. Entierro streets, the Holy Rosary church was constructed from 1877 to 1896 by the townspeople of Angeles by forced labor system known as “polos y servicios” imposed by the Spanish colonial government. From 1899 to 1900, it was used by the army as a military hospital. In 1896-1898, the backyard of the church was the execution ground of the Spanish forces shooting down Filipino rebels and suspects. The dominant element of the façade is the symmetry created by recessed arched windows, which are in harmony with the segmented ones.
  3. Center for Kapampangan Studies @ Holy Angel University
This houses a research center, museum gallery and theatre that provide access to materials on Kapampangan culture and history.
  4. Bale Herencia (optional)
The imposing house built in 1860 by a parish priest of Angeles along Lakandula and Sto. Rosario Streets. It was restored in 1988 and continues to stand to this day. The current owners now use it as a banquet hall.
  5. Lunch Stop (optional), either at Camalig or Everybody’s Café (personal account)
Now the home of Armando’s Pizza, Camalig is a restored grain storehouse nestled between Angeles City’s two oldest houses along Sto. Rosario St. It was built in 1840 by Don Ciriaco de Miranda, Angeles’ first gobernadorcillo (mayor) and restored in 1980 by the late Armando L. Nepomuceno.

Everybody’s Café was opened by Benito and Carmen Santos, shortly after World War II in San Fernando. Among their much-cherished dishes are murcon (made from pork, chorizo, quezo de bola, egg yolk, garlic and tomatoes), palabok (made of rice noodles, kamias, chicharon and a sauce thickened with galapong or ground rice), extra-large paksiw na bangus ( a real bestseller), camaru (mole crickets), homemade longganisa ( made of lean meat with a subtle garlicky and sweet taste), crispy hito (catfish) with buro (fermented shrimp paste) and mustasa (mustard leaves), sisig Capampangan, tidtad Capampangan (dinuguan) and tapang kalabaw (dried carabeef).

For dessert, there’s tibok-tibok (maja blanca made of fresh carabao’s milk), turrones de casoy, buko pandan jello, glazed camote with carabao’s milk, leche flan, halo-halo special, and San Nicolas biscuits among others.
  6. Pasalubong Stop (optional), either at Susie’s or Delyn’s (personal account)

Fees: PhP 150.00 / person (excluding Lunch and Pasalubong)*

THE CLARK MUSEUM TOUR

About the Museum

Clark Museum is our way of revering the past towards a progressive and dynamic future.
It chronicles the rich historical past of Clark which dates back when the American cavalry soldiers arrived to this once verdant grasslands in 1902, to become the largest US military installation outside mainland U.S.A. This was the situation until 1991 when US forces pulled out due to the abrogation of the U.S. – Philippine Military Bases Agreement and the disastrous effects of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

The Museum also serves as a reminder to the present and future generation, of events that shaped Clark’s history. It pays tribute to the resiliency of the Filipinos whose determination and hard work have made this severely damaged former US Military Installation into what it is today.

Essentially, Clark has become a world-class business metropolis, composed of an aviation complex – the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, and has gained reputation as a fast-rising commercial and tourism center in the country.
